Powder coating

Surface pre-treatment is performed using spraying technology. There are stages providing chemical treatments alternating with de-mineralized water rinsing. This arrangement allows for different pre-treatments for either iron (steel) or aluminium based materials. Components made of steel are pre-treated with Zn-phosphate and a Cr-free conversion is employed on components made of aluminium. In order to ensure economical operation and the highest possible quality, we work closely together with a team of experts at Henkel Surface Technologies.

Modern coating line

No matter how complex the system is, the final result can only be achieved when all processes are well adjusted and carefully controlled. A team of experts - not only from the field of surface treatment but also from the fields of air technology, production of de-mineralised water, compressed air and wastewater disposal - were involved in its design. The entire chemical pre-treatment and powder coating line are operated via a modern control system. We have worked in close collaboration with customers, especially in the automotive industry. The coating line builds on leading-edge technology in the field of powder coating using the principle of electrostatic coating with powdered plastics (polyester, acrylic, epoxypolyester, epoxide).

Powder coating is suitable protection against corrosion and a visual enhancement, especially for parts made of aluminium or steel. We are also experienced when it comes to the coating of parts made from NORYL plastic composite material.

The maximum part dimensions are 2500 x 1400 x 450 mm ( l x h x w). Highest productivity is achieved in large-scale series production and mass production with high demands for surface protection.

Conveyor

The parts to be coated are inserted between two electrically conducting clamps which allow for the electrostatic coating of powders. Based on your input and requirements, we can recommend the optimal suspension devices for your parts.

Spraying and curing

The core of the system consists of two spraying cabins produced by Swiss manufacturer ITW Gema AG. The coating of polyester powder plastic takes place in a spraying cabin incorporating cyclone technology. A powder exchange unit is integrated into our powder coating cabin. In the second spraying cabin acrylic powder can be applied. All the devices are located in a clean room which is equipped with air conditioning and air filtration systems to ensure dust-free operation. The curing is effected in construction type A ovens with indirect heating and filtration of the circulating air at a temperature of up to 230°C.

Outgoing inspection

This is conducted according to specific customer requirements. In the case of visible parts, we perform a 100% visual inspection and, by request, we can measure colour shades and gloss levels. Each production series is subjected to measurement of the thickness of the coating layer as well as its adhesion.
